The design was developed in response to the vision of transforming the conventional “clinical and impersonal” atmosphere often associated with elderly care facilities into a bright, open, and welcoming environment—one that feels more like a casual hotel where residents can spend their time comfortably.
Given the condition that renovations would take place while residents continued their daily lives in the facility, the project was carefully planned to minimize disruption for both residents and staff. Every phase was thoughtfully designed to enhance the quality of the space without significantly disturbing the familiar rhythm of everyday life.
The shared floor extending from the entrance was composed with soft tones and materials to create a sense of comfort and cleanliness, while also adding depth and character to the environment. The design supports the calm, everyday lives of long-term residents while also accommodating diverse stay styles such as short-term and middle-term stays, balancing familiarity with a subtle sense of the extraordinary.
A space that remains rooted in daily life, yet offers moments that feel just a little more special. Beyond functionality, safety, and comfort, this design aims to elevate the very value of spending time within the space itself.
